Ohadi pistachio

Where does it come from?

Ohadio pistachio: Mr. Mehdi Ouhadi found the variety in Rafsanjan Iran
Today, this cultivar is the most famous pistachio in Iran and about 60 to 70% of the area under Ohadi (Ouhadi) pistachio cultivation.

This figure was identified and selected by Mehdi Ouhadi between 1320-1330 in the village of Fatehabad in Rafsanjan.

Ouhadi cultivar is one of the first cultivars which farmers cultivated in Khorasan about 3 decades ago

Out of a total of 50,000 hectares of pistachio cultivation in Khorasan, about 20% or 10,000 hectares belongs to the Ouhadi cultivar.

Most of ohadi farms are in Bardaskan, Khalilabad and Gonabad.

Morphology of Ohadio pistachio.

The growth power of the tree is medium and its growth habit is extensive.

Recently due to a research by birjand university Ohadi pistachio is the third among four popular pistachio rootstock which is semi tolerant to fungi infection and suitable for vaat orchards.

Its terminal dominance is strong and its ability to produce lateral branches is low.

Most leaves are trifoliate and the terminal leaflet is larger than the lateral leaflets.

The flower bud size of Ohadio is small, the density of the spike is low and the green skin color of the fruit is purple-red.

Flowering and fruiting of Ohadio pistachio

This figure is from early to medium flower cultivars.

Flowering in this cultivar in different years on average starts from April 3 and continues until 10th of Farvardin.

The growth of the brain starts from the 7th of July.

The fruits harvests in mid-September, although in each cluster contains 20 pistachio seeds at the end of the growing season.

Due to the long axis of the cluster, the density of pistachios in the cluster is low

About 10% of the fruits were clean. The weight of a pistachio seed is about 2.7 grams and 38% of it is green skin.

In avarage, its ounce is equal to 28.

For every 100 grams of dried pistachios, 57 grams of kernels are obtained

Ohadio pistachio net weight after drying 100 gr of the kernel.

More than 98% of the fruits were smiling (open shell) and the degree of laughter was moderate and more of the dorsal-abdominal type.

In saline conditions (EC irrigation water – 8 dS), 3 kg of each unit tree at the threshold of fruiting (nine years after transplanting) 1200 kg per hectare.

Ecological needs of Ohadio pistachio.

This cultivar has been planted in different areas with different climatic conditions, such as areas with very hot and dry summers, and vice versa in areas where summers are milder.

The results show the fact that because the crown of the tree is not dense leaf area is small.

A large part of the trunk and fruit is tolerant to sun and strong winds.

As a result, the percentage of sunburn on the fruit and trunk increases.

No signs of frostbite observed in any of the areas.

it is suggested

In relation to Ouhadi cultivar, it is important to pay attention to the following points:

1- Medium yield

2- Medium year

3- Sensitive to salinity

4- sensitive to psyllids

In all respects and since salinity is the most important limiting factor in the future.

This figure is not tolerant of salinity, so it is preferably better.

Do not use it in the construction of new gardens.

Conclusion

  • Ohadi pistachios are very high percentage of laughter color of the purple kernel and the color of the creamy bone skin is distinguishable in compare of other varieties.
