Iranian pistachio in Khorasan
Southern Khorasan Razavi has created a good opportunity for growing pistachios, and of course it has its own problems.
Hamed Hassanzadeh, head of the Agricultural Organization of South Khorasan, said: “This unit has 773 hectares of pistachio orchards in the form of agricultural complex and pistachio orchards located in the endowment lands of Bimragh and Roshanavand and 4 hectares located in the endowment of the late Lotfi, which includes orchards and It is not fruitful.
He added: in 1399, about 770 tons more pistachios were harvested from pistachio orchards, which fortunately has been accompanied by a 30% growth compared to last year.
The head of the Agriculture and Endowments Organization of South Khorasan continued: “Due to the quality and grading of pistachios, as well as the production of healthy and non-toxic products, pistachios are mainly exported to foreign markets.”
Hassanzadeh stated: The Agricultural and Endowment Organization of South Khorasan, by observing all the points in the stages of harvesting, has been able to receive the certificate of production of healthy product, without toxins, aflatoxins and heavy metals, every year since 1392, which In turn, it is an important achievement.
He explained: “Due to the geographical location and proper management of orchards, pest control using biological and integrated methods of control such as winter weeding, proper nutrition of orchards and increasing the resistance of pistachio trees and on the other hand not spraying the orchards except in necessary cases.” It has been on the agenda, and these measures have enabled this unit to produce and market healthy pistachio products.
The head of the Agricultural and Endowment Organization of South Khorasan emphasized: to improve the production efficiency of this product, several measures have been taken that can be implemented under pressure irrigation and piping systems to feed orchards, pest management and control, proper nutrition, use of acid fertilizers, He mentioned the improvement of orchard soil, participation in pistachio production, and so on.

Hassanzadeh stated: Irrigation of 250 hectares of pistachio orchards is done using pressurized irrigation systems, 350 hectares are low pressure and the rest, ie about 200 hectares, is done traditionally; Utilization of modern irrigation systems has been done in order to increase irrigation efficiency, reduce water loss and increase pistachio production efficiency.
He added: “We are pursuing the implementation of irrigation system in an area of 210 hectares of orchards, so that 200 hectares of pistachio orchards and 10 hectares of gardens related to the endowment of the late Lotfi will be equipped with new irrigation systems.”
The head of the Agriculture and Endowments Organization of South Khorasan continued: “In this regard, activities such as preventing the occurrence of irrigation stress, using various animal fertilizers and Soloptas, using modern irrigation methods, etc. have been done.”
Hassanzadeh said: “Due to the salinity of water and soil resources, the need for leaching in gardens and on the other hand the installation of smart meters on agricultural wells and lack of water resources, at the moment it is not possible to develop gardens, so this set of efforts It focuses on measures such as the use of animal manure leachate during the growing season of orchards, the use of seasonal floods, the use of fertilizer with irrigation water, the feeding of the region’s aquifers, and the reduction of water salinity.
He added: “Increasing the price of inputs, salinity of water and soil resources, harsh climatic conditions, problems caused by coronary heart disease and reduced demand for pistachios in Iran and the world, are among the problems of pistachio growers.”
